Wayne has worked in the Wearable Computer Lab since 1998 developing augmented reality research systems, and supervised the work of other students in the lab.
Wayne developed the Tinmith system as part of his PhD into augmented reality user interfaces. With Tinmith, users are able to use their body to perform 3D modelling in real-time using AR technology. Wayne has also developed a number of other leading AR systems, and was one of the developers of ARQuake.
The WCL has worldwide standing as the leaders in outdoor AR technology, this is verified by Internet research showing the lab is the most visited by people searching for AR; and two WCL projects have impressive citations, Tinmith has 680 and ARQuake has 760.
Wayne is one of the world's leading experts in the development of AR systems. His detailed technical knowledge in the area of AR and the problems of working outdoors will enable a_rage to be a leader in the field.
