A-Rage Wins 3rd Prize at IT Secrets

Taking out 3rd prize in the Entertainment Category, A-Rage proves itself as true upcomming little company with big ambishions.

IT Secrets (http://www.itsecrets.com.au) is government run initiative with lots of industry backing. Taking out 3rd prize is by no means an easy feat. With a large range of high ranked competition.

The submitted video that helped A-Rage take out 3rd prize is available at:

A-Rage at Freeplay 15-17th July 2005

Joe Velikovsky from A-Rage attended Freeplay 2005 at ACMI in Melbourne, and participated in a workshop on Augmented Reality games.

In a presentation expanding on the one given at AGDC 2004 last December, A-Rage presented an analysis of the major issues associated with AR game design, and also demonstrated the game `Sky Invaders' indoors to a warm reception.

Feedback from the session has been very positive, and independent developers are most keen to engage with an AR game dev kit for the A-Rage system. (NB - It will be at least 12 months before a dev kit would be available, but as below - watch this space.)

Once again, our thanks to Nextwave, ACMI, AFTRS, and Multimedia Victoria for supporting the event - and it's great to see the Indy game developer spirit is alive and well at events such as these!

A-Rage at E3 - 2005

E3 2005 was a success for A-Rage. At the Australia Games stand, A-Rage Pty Ltd continuously exhibited a 3-minute demo movie of its proposed forthcoming titles, which was seen by many of the 70,000 attendees at the show.

Also the A-Rage system and demo game itself was demonstrated each day of the event indoors by Joe Velikovsky, and played by several attendees, including members of the press, and game review web sites (eg http://www.gamersmark.com/articles/160/ ).

As a result of the show, A-Rage web site traffic increased by 323%, from 22228 page requests in May 2005, to 71850 in the month after the show.

Overall the show was a great success for A-Rage, in terms of networking, exposure, and industry feedback, with many potential consumers also keen to know when they can buy an A-Rage unit.

We are currently in negotiations with various companies, so - watch this space!

AGDC 2004 Wrap-Up

a_rage had a hugely successful Australian Game Developers Conference at the Melbourne Convention Centre. Over 100 people (both Developers and Gamers) played our world-first AR game system at its world premiere - and we even were a Finalist in the Best Unsigned Game (Professional) competition. (Not bad, for essentially a 2-month dev cycle!).

Our pitches all went well, and we were thrilled with all the positive feedback we received. Our `Gameplay and Game Design Issues in AR Games' lecture at the Academic Summit (www.agdc.com.au) also went over really well.

Thanks again to all who played a_rage at AGDC - and to all who voted for us in the `Best Game' comp.
